RIP United States of America

Another election has come and gone.  Was this really "the most important election" in a while.  Initially, i brushed this off.  However, now i get the feeling that it might have been  (At least the incredibly stupid political ads are over).

Maybe i shouldn't touch on the irony of candidates saying that they supported fiscal responsibility (like liberals ever have/will) yet spending in the neighborhood of $3 billion dollars campaigning.

i viewed this election as re-arranging deck chairs on the Titanic (Romney) or raining anvils on the Titanic (Obama).  Well, i guess now it is raining (especially considering Obama's apparent infatuation with fiscal irresponsibility).  At least with Romney, maybe they could have created a few rafts with some deck chairs or something.

The course the US appears to be on is not the right course.  As opposed to earlier America, the US now  appears to be on a crash course with countries like Greece and Spain (results wise). More government involvement is never a good thing.

What do Americans actually have to look forward to in the not too distant future?  Increased government presence, a worse business climate with worthless/bad regulations, more debt (which is a tax in itself as it will cut into purchasing power), higher taxes, creating and taking away "rights" and a series of other horrible things.  If you thought that the current unemployment rate is an anomaly, think again.  i believe that the natural unemployment rate in the US is now over 6.5% (and will increase over time).  An real unemployment rate of under 7.5% is impossible over the next four years.

In the not too distant future... with the US population numbers (3rd biggest in the world), the standard of living will also precipitously decline and the US will rightfully claim its place as a second world country.

If you look at the US now (as opposed to better days) it is barely recognizable.  The US used to be about hard work, innovation, success and independence.  What i see today is far different.  This isn't really the same country.  The US now appears to be a country of jealousy with people holding out their hands to government.  Debt load is a real issue (in the future, a massive one).  What does it say when the big initiatives centered around pot and gay marriage?

This may sound counter-intuitive, but i believe the best thing the US government could do to have a future is to default on the debt.  Why keep telling yourself a crisis is not going to happen and keep making it worse with self-delusion?  Face your problems and deal with them.  Things are not going to solve themselves.  The US government is not capable of running itself without incurring substantial debt.  So for the good of all America (there would be short-term pain), nuke the debt financing option.

Make no mistake, the US is not what it once was and will never be that way again.  It is sad that a once great nation will have relegated itself to one of the biggest failures in the history of the world.  i guess that is why the USA is dead to me.
