What to Do if You're Stuck in a Isekai.

So, i've been kind of bored.  That sometimes happens when you hit 90% of the internet data cap with one week to go in the month.  One of the subgenres of anime i have watched a bunch is Isekai (another world).  So, what tips would i have for you in the unlikely event you find yourself in another world - whether inside a video game, reincarnated, or summoned into one.  Read below to find out.

General: Applies to most scenarios:
- The world you are going into is different than the one you left.
- Experience will differ a little based on gender (i assume male on this list).
- Live your power fantasy but remember unlike video games there are consequences.
- Black/white morality does not necessarily play out the same as the world you came from.  Things like slavery exist and may need to be utilized to meet your goals.  You may have to kill people.  You likely can't succeed in your mission as a saint.
- Highly likely you will be betrayed at some point
- Some of your friends, family, or allies will likely die
- Remember, marriage in medieval settings is largely treated as a property transfer.  So, if you have the daughter of a rich/powerful family interested in you - you may want to marry her for status/money even if you care nothing for her.  Find out if polygamy is allowed.  If you can get away with a harem scenario, might as well do it.  Ever wonder what a bunny girl/human hybrid looks like - find out.  You might die tomorrow.
- Not just different races, but different species exist: could be elves, demons, dwarves, beast men and other.
- Things that look like MMO video game overlays might appear for no apparent reason

Summoned to a new world:
In this scenario you are basically a disposable pawn used to deal with someone else's problem.  You may find yourself with special powers.  Could be solo or as a part of a group.  Unfortunately for you, this is probably a one-way trip.

Have fun with your life in a new world.  It won't be easy.  There will be a struggle.  Also, pretty good chance the government or whoever summoned you sees you as a potential threat/villain if you do actually solve their problem.

Another problem is you are thrust into an unfamiliar situation (culture, customs, language).  That can take years to learn.

Examples: Rising of the Shield Hero, Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest

Reincarnated into a New World: my favorite possibility.
Congratulations you are dead.  Maybe you saved someone and got murdered or hit by a car.  The "good news" is you get to start over in a new world.  You can take what you learned in your previous life and carry it over to the new one.  Do try to forget past trauma though - think of it a fresh start.

If you are born/raised as a prodigy in a semi-well-off setting, good for you.  Nobody ever tells the story of the person reincarnated as a talentless street urchin prostitute - though it has to happen sometimes, right?
Unfortunately, you are still going to face some challenges.  Your new lower tech lifestyle has possibilities that didn't exist back in your hyper-abstract previous existence.

There is a chance you could be reborn as a non-human, like a slime.  A man could be reborn as a woman (could be awkward at least at first).

Probably superior to the summoned scenario in that you get to grow up in the new world - learning speech and customs as you grow up - you have your parents/friends to guide you.  You also have more time to master latent and not so latent skills before being thrown on the mercy of the real world.

Examples: Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, Wise Man's Grandchild

Video game come to life:
You play a video game you are familiar with, usually an MMO, one day you wake up inside the game and cannot get out.  It becomes your new life.  In many instances you start off kind of powered up already.

Although, there is a chance you end up in a dating sim/otome type game where you know the outcome because you've played it before.  Say you were a villain(ess) and wanted to avoid the ending, you could theoretically avoid your fate.  Though in that case it was both reincarnated and video game come to life (My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom).

You know what they say: "you know the rules and so do I".   There won't be any mechanical surprises in this, though there could be some content surprises.

Example: Sword Art Online
