Halloween 2015: Pumpkins Doing Pumpkin Things

Well, another Halloween (sadly) has come to a close.  Google said that you're never too old to trick or treat in an ad, but i don't think the neighbors here would agree.  i'm still 15, i just have several years experience at it.

Now for so pictures of pumpkins - they didn't turn out great this year.  i tried and failed one stencil, i decided the other pumpkin wast too soft (read starting to rot) to try a pattern..

Halloween Candy 2015, the Halloweening

The most wonderful time of the year is just two short weeks away.  One of the big parts of the best holiday ever (better if people would give me Xmas presents on Halloween like I would prefer - but they won't) is candy. 


I've probably bought more candy than I should have already (though I have two more weeks left to do so, followed by Wal-Mart day after shopping - Target never has 50% off the day after any more).  So far, it is less than last year - I've only bought candy during this period that was on sale (mostly buy one get one 50% off). 


What ever happened to fun sized Baby Ruth?  Target doesn't stock them.  Last year I found them at Wal-Mart, but I haven't been there this year (and their website suggests that they are out of stock near me).

Halloween 2014: The Pumpkining: Part Something

Well, it's almost here again... the most wonderful time of the year - Halloween.  So what to do on my favorite holiday?  i have to remember to buy a MegaMillions ticket tomorrow.  Because "miracles happen most every day to people like you and me".  Come on Great Pumpkin.

For some reason, chronoligical adults aren't allowed to go trick or treating (how lame).  They are still allowed to carve pumpkins horribly and take pictures.  So here we go (trying to embed Flickr photos this time, not sure how it will work).  Nah, i don't feel like taking the time to figure it out (not as easy as i expected it to be).

Happy Halloween

It's the most wonderful time of the year (oh wait that is purported to be Xmas)... 

Halloween has come again, as it usually does, on October 31st.  I vaguely (not as well as I would like) remember ridiculous inflatable head costumes and flimsy plastic masks.  I remember going door to door trick or treating.  I wish I could do that again, but people seem to take issues with people who might be chronologically considered adults doing that.  What a cruel, cruel world.

I consider Halloween (h a double l o w double e n) to be one of my high holidays (you know like Xmas, Friday the 13th, and odd dates like 11/12/13). 

I still wonder why Charlie Brown was given rocks when he trick or treats... there is a better than average chance they would be returned at a higher velocity than they were given (through translucent openings). 

Talking about houses that need to be egged... one of my alleged sisters will be giving out healthier things than candy.  The horror! The horror!  She is talking about things like pretzels and "healthy" granola bar type things.  Sorry ghouls, goblins, princesses, super heroes, monsters and miscellaneous. 

Giving out "healthy" "treats" is sacrilegious.  I guess it is better than that Halloween letter a lady in South Dakota is rumored to be giving out.  Sick and wrong.  I guess that is how movie villains like Mike Myers, Jason Voorhies and Freddy Kruger were created. 

Halloween Candy Awesomeness, In My Opinion

Halloween is rapidly approaching again (making me wish I was young enough to get away with Trick or Treating).  So, here is a pointless post on candy - specifically the candy I like. 

Here is what I would like to see in my bag (if the world weren't so cruel) - nothing white or dark chocolate, the pure sugar stuff (like smarties, bottle caps, etc - I could do without).  i am kind of addicted to Gobstoppers though.  I could also do without stuff like Charleston Chew.

Halloween Pictures 2: More Bad Pictures

Ok, so the last post got kind of slow with picture uploads so i decided to make a second post.  That and i took a few more pictures.  My alleged parental unit's pumpkin was badly framed.  Hopefully i remedied that a little.  However, it wasn't easy since the design of the pumpkin seems to be facing down.  The pumpkin i carved was so much more photogenic.

As you may know, taking pictures in low light situations is kind of a pain in the neck.  Taking low light pictures without a tripod (and without a good low light lens) is insane.  Anyway, here are some of my attempts.  As usual, some look almost decent on the camera, some almost look usable on my computer and some are just horrible.  Let's start....

Halloween is probably my favorite holiday of the year (if only people would start giving my Xmas presents on Halloween, it would be almost perfect).  Actually it is probably one of my favorite days of the year. 

Halloween is a magical day where someone can be almost anything. i'm going as a homicidal maniac this year.  i guess the real irony is that people can be more themselves by dressing up like someone else.  Halloween is also filled with "scary" themes and images.  These mythical creatures could beat the crap out of Hermey.  Xmas decorations are a little too cutesy.  Halloween allows you to be a little darker in tone.  i guess you get candy too, so that is a plus. 

i was supposed to get to go Trick or Treating this year (as an observer - and keep most of the candy for myself - <insert evil laugh here>), but some idiot couldn't behave or keep their mouth shut for a whole 3 days.  Why does there have to be an age limit?  Shouldn't 30 somethings be able to go trick or treating without kids?  i think so. 

"Halloween" is an annoying old song by Kay Lande and Wade Denning that tends to get stuck in my head - despite me not knowing all of the lyrics (thank you very much elementary school music teacher - i want to say Mrs. Coaker).  "H A double L O W double E N spells Halloween".  "Witches' Brew" by Hap Palmer is a little less memorable.

Halloween specials: there really aren't very many good ones.  There is the Charlie Brown Halloween (a lot less preachy than the Xmas one).  Why would people give a kid rocks instead of candy?  Don't they know there is a better than average chance they get returned, through a window, at a high velocity.  Two Guys a Girl and a Pizza place usually had decent Halloween episodes (i wish that series was on DVD).  Oh yeah another Halloween special is A Pinky and the Brain Halloween.  Well it is, if you need help finding the food pellets. 

i really didn't have the money or the space to decorate this year for Halloween (too bad i lost the pictures of my room when my computer failed.)  However, i might hit Spirit Halloween store tomorrow when everything is 50% off (for some little stuff).

Halloween Decorations 2010

This year i spent more on Halloween decorations than i have before in my life combined (of course, one penny would have beaten my cumulative total to this point).  No, i didn't go out (i wish i had the money to do that).  i guess i will be trying out something a little new here. 

i hit the Spirit Halloween store for most of the more expensive stuff.  Expensive for me being $50-$70.

* The first decoration i got there was a mini flame light (hanging) - show here on the left side of the image  

* Next (at the same time) i got a Hovering Ghost.  This is made by Tekky Toys and available at different stores like Tartget, etc (at a little cheaper price).  Tekky Toys video instructions at their site are better than the printed ones that come in the box.  The ghost rises and moves from side to side.  Unfortunately, this is a little loud for apartment/duplex living.  Do you want to see what it is like (extended)?  Too bad

* The final "big" thing i got was the Rising Reaper (also made by Tekky Toys, but i think a Spirit exclusive).  i guess how good or bad this looks depends a little on what surrounds it.  There was a slight problem with it though... the animatronic holds a pumpkin with velocro on it to hold up fabric arms on the side of the pumpkin.  Unfortunately, i have a problem where the velcro connectors on the pumkin part fall off (maybe bad adhesive or something).  The wire hood also had a little problem.  However it does its job.  Unfortunately, like the Hoveing Ghost, this is a little loud for apartment/duplex living.  Does anyone know how to mute these without pulling the plug for the lights too?  Here is an image of extended Risisng Reaper (about 4'), he is on top of a 14" tall recycling bin.
