Random Musings Today: New Calendar, Closed Captioning, and More

What have i been pondering lately?
Well i think that some things should change.  Obviously getting rid of Daylight-Saving Time would be awesome.  9 PM sunsets suck.  Why stop there?  Why is the calendar the way it is now?

Calendar: This is not my idea.  However, it is a concept that i learned about recently.  What i propose is to change the calendar to 13 months of 28 days each (yes that is only 364 days).  Sorry big calendar.  Would be nice to have more consistency - all months being the same length.  Also seems a little more organic/attuned to humans.

Close Caption: was watching anime on Hulu with subtitles on.  Amazing how bad they are.  Probably less than 70% accuracy.  Character/place names are probably less than 25% accurate.  i suspect Hulu is using an AI type solution that uses speech to text functionality.  Program encoded subtitles would likely be much better.

Shouldn't the end of the world be here already?  It is taking too damn long.  Strongly expect things will get not good in the next 6-12 months.

Shouldn't have any date related memory jogs for a while (July 15th has been done to death), September 20th was the birthday of malevolence behind July 15th.  i guess October 3rd was my first job (touched on that briefly in previous post).  Maybe i could do the March-July failed attempt at moving out on my own (Forest Glen in the apartment).  i wish April 23 could have been my anniversary - but that never happened, at least on this timeline (the worst possible one, i suspect).

Misc: Juneteenth is coming up - what a BS "holiday" (maybe even inside TX).  Guess this was part of the St. George Floyd (patron saint of drug overdoses) movement.
- i hate summer.  Anything over 60° is too hot.  Outside my school days, nothing good has ever come out of summer (my birthday is in the summer).

LEGO
LEGO Neuschwanstein Castle - are they really releasing this on August 1st.  Not on their website, haven't heard anything about it since February.  Supposed to be really pricy $270 - i thought Notre Dame Cathedral was too pricy at $230 (decent build though).
- LEGO.  Bit pricy, but i kind of like the 3 in 1 Haunted Mansion set (31167) reminds me of the Monster Fighter (10228) set that i wish i had. $90 for 736 pieces is a bit high, though some of the minifigures aren't bad (like Frankenstein Monster and Werewolf).  Always wanted a Halloween LEGO set.  The other two builds are a ghost ship and a train.

Anime: -Freiren: Beyond Journey's End is really boring.  Wooden characters, slow pacing, etc.  Can't get into Attack on Titan either.  Been watching Our Last Crusade: or the Rise of a New World - wish episodes were longer.  Need to finish "watching" some series/seasons to get them off my Continue Watching list.  Many i just can't get into.  Been watching shows as they are added (lots of Isekai lately). Looks like not much "new" until June 23rd.

Kind of wish Crunchyroll would have retail gift cards.  i would likely subscribe for 6 months or so if i could pay through cash at the retail level.  Yes, i prefer to use cash for subscriptions (via gift card) whenever possible.  Though i suspect i would find most of the shows on there probably suck.

Probably going to use my Microsoft/Bing Rewards points to eventually get the second half of Apothecary Diaries Season 2 - when it goes on sale on the Xbox Store (at least 60% off).  It will at some point.  Probably not until after the season ends on July 4th.  Would prefer to get the Blu-Rays at some point, but $200 for 2 seasons (4 sets of 12 episodes) doesn't seem like a good value proposition to me.  Been reading episode recaps of the second half of the second season. The first half of the 5th season could be interesting, but beyond that...

Dub vs Sub: if i wanted to read, i would not be watching TV.  i did leave subtitles on though as some seasons of shows i've been watching are not available dubbed on Hulu.  Included are Witchwatch, Our Last Crusade: Or Rise of a New World, and Fire Force.  Before then it was Arifureta: From Commonplace to Strongest and Demon Lord, Retry!
