One of my favorite ongoing anime is It is Wrong to Try and Pick up Girls in a Dungeon (otherwise known as Danmachi). Yes, i'll admit to first watching it on Hulu somewhat for its name. But it is a series with mutated mythology and a weak adventurer, originally rejected by the big players, becoming one of the strongest.
This is musings about the future hero Bell Canel's familia (adventurer family of a god, kind of like a faction/guild in something like Black Clover or Fairy Tail). Hestia (Vesta) was a virgin goddess with no children (adventurer followers) until Bell. As Bell grew, so too did the familia.
Keep in mind, i've only seen the anime through season 4. Come on Hulu get Season 5. i have no intention of ever reading the light novels for Danmachi, Sword Oratoria, or its spinoffs.
So, what does this familia need:
- an administrator/money person. Maybe poach Misha from the guild. Now that Bell has leveled up, they can go deeper in the dungeon. As a small familia, they need alliances with other familias to have the manpower to go on expeditions. Expeditions are not cheap, and (at the end of season 4) they are faced with massive amounts of debt from medical bills and Hestia's purchase of Bell's knife (that has served him very well). They need to reduce debt load to attract more members
- A tank type (preferably with a shield). They occasionally borrow Ouka from the Takemikazuchi familia. A frontline fighter with high defense and health.
- Another damage dealer - they have Bell (Ryuu seems more midrange), they could use another frontline, even if it is someone like Aisha.
- An attack mage - a mage dedicated to more powerful attack spells (the kind that take a while to chant). Kind of like Lefiya in the one season of the spin-off anime.
- A healer - They occasionally borrow Cassandra from the Miach family (though she also has prophetic abilities, that sometimes leave her sort of paralyzed in fear and despair).
- A "B-team" of developmental adventurers. Maybe a bunch (say 10) of level 1,2s who train on the upper levels led by Liliruca.
- More members in general - i hear that later on they get a somewhat powerful (Ryuu) one and an "intern" i don't know much about. They need a minimum of 15 members (2 current will likely leave).
- The end boss fight of the series will likely use Bell, Haruhime and potentially Ryuu (questionable). Everyone else (Welf, Lili, Mikoto will not face the end battle). Though i would rather see Bell trying to get to the bottom of the dungeon than face the Black Dragon (maybe both).
- With a healer and an attack mage, they could be a good support team. Wonder if they will do support missions in future seasons.
- Will Mikoto and Welf go back to their previous Gods (who they have crushes on)? There supposedly is a cooldown period between switching familias. Supposedly the whole series takes place in less than a year. So likely not possible before the end of the series. Could see Mikoto reserving the rights to continued usage of the bath in Hestia's place.
- That leaves Liliruca from the original group. She is growing as a strategist but likely cannot survive much lower floors. What to do with her? i would say lead a developmental group in the upper levels (mostly above floor 10).
- They have a massive house (previous familia had at least 100 members), what to do with the extra space. i think they have less than 10 people living there.
- Come on Bell, Haruhime is awesome, marry her. Even if it is a way to dissuade other groups from trying to take/kill her for her insane level boost skill. Yes, i know he's only 14 (assume he's viewed as an adult in that society). Yes, i know Aiz has relationship plot armor (means less the more he levels up, especially if he could hit level 7).
