Recently (like today) i saw the "movie" Unfriended. To say that i like that "movie" would be grossly inaccurate. Yeah, a whole "movie" taking place on a computer screen. The premise of the "movie" is that a group of friends (i'd assume) posted an embarrassing video of a classmate on YouTube a year ago "causing" said classmate to commit suicide. Then supernaturally, i guess cyber-naturally, the friend exacts their revenge. i can't believe they are making a sequel to this piece of crap (though the low budget probably saved it from being a total failure).
i don't get why in this "movie" that the person just didn't file a lawsuit against whoever hosted the party (or their parents) - not sure what kind of liability disclaimers YouTube has. Who would be laughing then?
i'm not a human and i don't play one on TV, so i really don't get this outrage on cyber-bullying. In fact i believe the whole "bullying" thing is so overused and some times wrong. People don't even seem to know what bullying is. Some say they are being bullied if someone doesn't do what they want. This "bullying" has always happened, i guess the younger generations in particular are more susceptible to it because they are so weak and coddled. Life sucks and people are jerks.
Quite frankly, if you believe in such a thing, everyone is both a bully and the bullied. You are going to have to learn to take some crap eventually. After all, life is probably 95% crap by volume.
Now for the unfeeling stuff... if someone feels the need to commit suicide because of comments online (mostly anonymous) or stuff like that, i don't see it as a loss. Sure life might be a little harder for a while, but it will probably blow over eventually (when the next unfortunate person is savaged).
If people are that weak minded/willed, is society really missing anything if they remove themselves from the equation? i think not.
Admittedly i don't understand the constant need for approval. Maybe these people are doing themselves a favor, life doesn't ever get any better - you just have to put up with different crap. If these people care so much about what other people think of them, what are they doing on social media on the first place? i don't get this need to be accepted by others (especially a bunch of semi-anonymous morons).
