Seattle Mariners: What to Do With Nick Franklin

Allegedly, the Seattle Mariners will sign Robinson Cano (still a SP, at least one outfielder and DH issue to address).  This move appears to have displaced Nick Franklin (one of my favorite current Mariners - despite his stupid elbow spider web tattoo).

So what is next for the 22 year old?  That remains to be seen, but this is how I believe it to be

1) Compete at SS with Brad Miller (Miller is the favorite to win the SS job by many).  If not 1, then 2

2) Minor leagues: back to Tacoma, I wonder if he could play 3B - it's always nice to have a backup in waiting incase someone gets injured - like Cano, Miller or Seager.

3) Trade: probably the most likely scenario, but who.

Rampant speculation time (viewing him as 2B) I don't know the strength of other teams minor league systems.  Maybe Kansas City or Tampa Bay would be interested, I don't know.  As a SS/2B, maybe a few more teams.  For some reason, Franklin seems like he would fit in in Arizona (but they don't have a spot for him there).

- Minnesota Twins
- New York Yankees
- Chicago Cubs
- Los Angeles Dodgers
- Florida Marlins
