My Ideal Messed Up World

My reality is unsatisfying and disappointing.  The "modern world" is layers of abstraction stacked on top of each other.  Sometimes, technological dependence can seem more like an albatross than a boon.  Life was never meant to be a subscription service.

On the surface, there are more choices, but is that really a good thing?  Today is full of psuedo-decisions that are more programmed responses than actual conscious decisions.  There can be so many theoretical branching impacts of decisions that it can cause decision paralysis (where few decisions are actually made).  Most choice is little more than illusion.  In some ways, i think less options and more "real decisions" would be far preferable.

Idle wondering when i couldn't sleep led me to think what my warped view of a more perfect world would be.  i got another $1.99 each for 3 months deal on Crunchyroll, so that tempered my view a little (a lot of fantasy/medieval period type shows).

So, if i could start all over in a different world (Isekai save me), here are some of the differences i'd like to see.

* A world where a person has a more defined role at birth. i'm not necessarily talking caste/social status, but more innate skills/abilities (like inborn career-based affinities falling within: combat/exploration, production/farming, or services/retail).  There is a certain freedom in accepting what you are suited to over discovering that through years of trial and error.

* Less geographical mobility - stronger villages/towns with deeper connections.

* Schools exist for basic literacy, mathematics, and daily life skills.

* In more urban areas:  at 14.5 years old students are required to live on campus in dorms.  Pre/introductory training for the apprenticeships that start at 16.5 years old (school responsible for setting up apprenticeships).

Males have single rooms; females live with 1 or 2 other females.  Males keep their doors unlocked at night.  Females can provide "night visits" if they so desire (a pregnancy equals marriage).  A person at 16 years old will be assigned a spouse if they haven't already found one (required sex education lab type scenario that covers foreplay and basic techniques).

* In rural areas: more/earlier career focused education (farming, combat, etc).  Rural requires more cross discipline training.  Arranged marriages at 14-16.  The couple moves in with the family of the wife (if possible).

* Demon lords and wars are not required.  Would prefer a peace time existence and a low tax environment.
