Congratulations Edgar Martinez
Edgar Martinez (my favorite baseball player growing up) has finally been elected to the baseball Hall of Fame. For most of his solid career, he was overshadowed by people like Ken Griffey Jr, Ichiro Suzuki, Alex Rodriguez and others. He battled injuries (mostly leg related) throughout his career and got kind of late start (come on M's, Jim Presley was never that good). Edgar Martinez also got some of the best lines in the Mariners commercials (and some Eagle Hardware ones). i miss the "You've Got to Love These Guys" era.
In the pictures above, i show some of my Edgar Martinez memorabilia (a bat in a case would have been awesome - maybe a "light bat" - but i don't have one). My computer is not displaying the images well, but pictured are: a bobble head, a Starting Lineup action figure, a Texaco "The Double" figure and for some reason a duck (must have been a promotion). Also picture (badly) is a ticket stub from Edgar's last game on October 3, 2004 (really bad angle). i was existing near Cincinnati, OH at time and booked a trip to see his last series.
As an aside, it is kind of strange that the players i grew up watching are eligible for the Hall of Fame (retired at least 5 years).
