My Computer Went Psycho: Part II

Yes, about a week ago my computer started displaying problems.  i was greeted one day with a horrible image on my screen.

Thankfully, i took my Surface RT to the library (get better bandwidth library) and looked up the problem.  Much like i expected this was a scam (though i did think for a second that maybe the government stooped to extortion).  i guess it is an ongoing process trying to rid your computer of these nasty viruses/trojans.  It also caused me to change my Hotmail password for the first time in over 13 years.

i still think hacking/virus creation should be a death penalty offense.  Drawinn and quartering them seems too nice to me.

Any way, i put the computer into Safe Mode (F8 at boot?) with networking and went through the task of downloading some free or trial anti-virus programs.

* TDSSKiller: this is an online scan from Kaspersky.  i guess it does an ok job for what it is.
* Malwarebytes (trial):  this is one of my favorite early ones (and actually allowed me to get the crappy image off of my screen).  Malwarebytes is fairly basic, but does a decent job.  A full scan usually takes me about 40-50 minutes.  Maybe i'll keep the trial/free version on my computer for a while.
* Hitman Pro (trial): This was a fast scan, but it didn't find anything.
* ESET Online (trial): ESET is kind of slow, but it did find several things.  It seemed like a fairly thorough scan.

So, overall, what did i find (or more specifically, the programs - assuming no false negatives).
* Alureon (Win 32 and Win 64 and DOS, and other variations)
* Win 32/Ostram
* Win 32/Tobfy!MP3
* Olmarik.AM
* Win 32/BHO.0EL
* more that may not have been precisely named.
