My previous post was my view that $1 million may not be enough for all of my dreams (i'd still take it though).
Now that Powerball has soared to $485 million (or $485,000,000 - 9 figures looks so much more impressive to me). Strike that, it went up to $500 million. i was thinking what would i do with that much money.
Let's see:
- $337.8 million cash option (which i would take)
- After taxes (well withholding anyway): $236.46 million
- If 2-4 winners: $59.1 - $118.23 million
Logistically, moving that much money would be a bit of a nightmare (the best nightmare ever though). It would probably take about 3-6 months to get access to the money. It would also potentially give me more notoriety than i want though.
What i would actually do depends on how many winners there would be (if i solely won it - that would be awesome), i might do more things (and take a little more risk). Though i still couldn't afford a pro sports team (or even an NHL team). i don't think the US would let me buy a bunch of land and declare it an independent country either, bummer.
So, what would i do with my new found affluence?
- Stuff, i need more stuff: here is where i would buy things like DVDs , Blu-Rays (if MGM wants to release the rest of Green Acres on DVD and Mannequin on Blu-Ray - that would be awesome), video games, a new computer, a Surface Pro 3 (or 4), and a TV with a screen bigger than it needs to be (hopefully with better resolution than the real world).
- Get (and furnish) a hermitage with "Man Cave"
Buy an unassuming "middle class" house somewhere (hopefully in a quiet cul-de-sac). 2,000-3,000 sq ft. Ignore the outside world (because it kind of sucks).
- Live at approximately $50k a year (nothing overtly ostentatious). But, i would need faster internet.
- Optional: find a hermitess
for hermitess type things.
