Modern "Music" Kind of Sucks

After to "listening" to the radio station a teenage neer-do-well put on, my suspicion has been confirmed....  modern music sucks, it really really really sucks.

The station was a so called modern hits station (top 40?).  Stepping on my dog friend's tail produces better sounds than the cacophony I heard coming from the radio.  Ok, so probably not all newer music is unspeakably bad, just most of it.  Ironically, some of the country stuff my allegedly sister listens to is way better than the crap on that radio station.

Rap is not music, dub-step is not music.  What happened to melody (or lyrics that don't extoll the virtues of sex and drug abuse).  You pretty much know most songs are about sex (it was hidden a little better in previous decades).  You would think with all of the over-production that songs wouldn't be such garbage (but then again my thoughts on "Millennials" or younger is not what would be deemed positive).

So, to further cement my view that modern music kind of sucks I went on to YouTube and searched for the Billboard Top 50 Hot Tracks for the last two weeks.  Discounting country songs there really weren't that many songs I could tolerate.  The ones I could were:
* "Brave" - Sara Bareilles:  so that's the Windows 8/Phone song, a little overproduced sounding
* "Not a Bad Thing" - Justin Timberlake
* "Young Girls" - Bruno Mars
* "Roar" - Katy Perry: seriously overplayed song
* "Best Day of My Life" - American Authors
* "Say Something" - A Great Big World
* "Counting Stars" - OneRepublic:

Absolutely awful "song" (probably the worst of the whole list):
* #Selfie
